Blood donations by brokers throughout New Bruswick have exceeded our Partners for Life goal. New Brunswick Insurance Brokers also donated magenta fleece blankets (aka Bipper Blankets) to Canadian Blood Services to use at their mobile clinics. Blanket presentations to Charities chosen by MLA’s

On April 22, 2009 the Insurance Brokers of New Brunswick (IBANB) held their first ever Broker Awareness Day. Over 50 member brokers from all over the province were in Fredericton to meet with Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) and keep the communication channels open. The day started with a breakfast at the Crowne Plaza with Hon. Jack Keir speaking to the group of brokers. After breakfast it was a day filled with siting in the Legislature, meeting with MLA's, a luncheon at the Crowne Plaza and finally an evening reception with Premier Shawn Graham present to finish the day off. Draws were held at the reception for MLA’s to win 20 blankets to be donated to a charity of their choice. 20 Bipper Blankets were donated to each of the following charities:

Lonewater Farms Addiction Services Facility – Donated by Hon. Jack Keir. Alnwick Family Resource Food Bank in Tabusintac – Donated by Hon. Carmel Robichaud Centre for the Prevention of Family Violence in Ste. Anne de Kent – Donated by Premier Shawn Graham

P.R.O. Kids Saint John

The IBANB made a cash donation of $2500 to P.R.O. Kids Saint John during the 2008 golf tournament. Pro Kids mission is to provide assistance to as many children and youth as possible who are unable to participate in sport, art, recreation or cultural activities due to financial limitations. Activities such as the arts, culture, recreation and sports are known to promote self-esteem, healthy growth, increased knowledge and personal development. For more information about P.R.O. Moncton Headstart

The Young Broker Network (YBN), a committee of the IBANB, held its fourth annual Curling Bonspiel on February 13th, 2009 at the Beausejour Curling Club in Moncton. Nearly 80 people attended and all were asked to bring a package of diapers in lieu of a registration fee. The 4271 diapers were presented to the Moncton Headstart.

Moncton Headstart is an organization devoted to help parents of at-risk families learn to provide for their children and to teach children the personal and interpersonal skills needed, while they are in their most formative years.

Stan Cassidy Centre for Rehabilitation

The IBANB made a cash donations during their 2007 and 2009 golf tournament for the Dream Again Campaign at the Stan Cassidy Centre for Rehabilitation. For more information about the Stan Cassidy Centre for Rehabilitation visit their website

MADD Canada

The IBANB provided a cash sponsorship of $5000 to MADD Canada’s High School Multi Media Program shown in high schools throughout New Brunswick. New Brunswick Insurance Brokers also attended many of these shows to handout magenta bracelets and postcards reminding students of the importance of MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving).
