The Insurance Brokers Association of Nova Scotia (IBANS)
The Insurance Brokers Association of Nova Scotia (IBANS) is a not-for-profit trade association serving the interests of more than 1100 property and casualty insurance brokers in the province. Since 1949 IBANS has worked with its members to ensure they have the tools and knowledge necessary to best serve consumers. Governed by a board of directors drawn from its membership the Association is the voice of brokers in Nova Scotia and a member of the Insurance Brokers Association of Canada (IBAC).

Nova Scotia Insurance Review Board
The Nova Scotia Insurance Review Board is a separate board that regulates automobile insurance, and monitors rates and availability of other types of insurance. Insurance companies must apply to the Board to increase auto insurance rates or change its’ rules. The Board reviews applications and issues rulings.

Nova Scotia Finance and Treasury Board
The Office of the Superintendent of Insurance in Nova Scotia regulates the business of insurance in the province and enforces the Insurance Act.
